Red Lobster’s Quick Catch is sure to get you hooked
As a writer, a reader and a teacher, I know that a hook at the beginning of any column or story is essential. Then I realized, without a hook, my restaurant of choice this week, Red Lobster, would really be nowhere. Wait for it. Yes, it may be a nonsensical “hook,” but I’ve got you reading nonetheless, and for some reason, I’m swimming in folly as I write today. This week’s idea came from a friend who works near Red Lobster and who only has an hour for lunch. She suggested I test Red Lobster’s new television ad claim that it can get you in and out during your lunch hour - and that I, of course, take her along. An addition to a hook, a story (and Red Lobster) needs a net, in the form of rising action, climax and falling action, but I’ll cut to the chase and the happy ending. We arrived at 11:55 a.m. and had paid the check by 12:35 p.m. - which meant, not only did they live up to their ad promise, but we lingered a bit and even made a bank deposit before I delivered her back to work exactly one hour from the time I picked her up. Our in-between time was spent in an ocean of enjoyable conversation and trying all new menu items, like a new appetizer and two new items on the “Quick Catch” lunch menu.
